About

My name is Prescott, I’m currently pursuing my Game Design MFA at New York University.

After getting my BA in Individualized Study (Finance, Media, and Psychology) from NYU in 2021, I worked in financial services for two years before I realized that I was going down a path that would not lead to a fulfilling life. I had to make a change, but I had no semblance of what I actually wanted to pursue. I spent everyday for seven months asking myself this, before I finally landed on “games”.

Though games like Mario Kart, League of Legends, and Call of Duty shaped my early life, I never once stopped to seriously consider game development as a career. It instead only existed in my imagination as something I could do “in another life”. It was this exact mindset that made me realize it’s exactly what I needed to try.

I joined Foonie Magus’s Apeiron team as a Community Overseer, and immediately knew the game industry was where I was meant to be. I became a top player in the PvE roguelite, which opened up game balance opportunities, and eventually full game design responsibilities. I ended up getting a lead role in all game balance, pacing, and skill design during Apeiron’s transformation from PvE roguelite to PvP arena, scaling monthly active users from ~500 to 70,000+ at open beta

Though I do specialize in competitive game design / balance, working at that smaller scale studio actually gave me the opportunity to try my hand at a wide variety of things like win trade analysis, bug triage/QA, matchmaking systems, leaderboard structures, cross-department communication, team management, investor pitching, marketing campaigns, and mascot performances to name some!

Knowing that what I do can create the types of moments for others that shaped who I am today is what drives me to bring my all every step of the way.
